Bass Fishing Tips for Fishing Enthusiasts
Bass fishing is one of the most popular types of fishing among anglers. Finding and catching bass is very challenging, especially if you are relatively new to the sport. Here are a few bass fishing tips that will help you catch more and bigger fish.
Selecting the right bait is always difficult. Fish can be fickle and just because you caught several fish a day with a specific lure doesn’t mean it will work today. It is best to have a large assortment of crankbait, jibs and plastic baits.
Bass are sensitive to motion, color, and sound. The motion a bass likes to see is the movement of a wounded fish. A wounded fish is easier to catch and eat. Buying crank baits that move through the water like a wounded fish are good, but only part of the battle. A wounded fish doesn’t move fast and it stops often to rest. Keep this in mind when you reel in the crankbait, be sure to reel slowly and stop often. Keep in mind that all wheels are gears to that one turn of the crank will bring in the line a long ways. Depending on how your reel is geared you may want to slowly turn the handle on the reel half a turn, stop, count to three, and turn the handle one quarter of a turn. Stop count to two, and repeat. Fish don’t swim in a rhythm so don’t reel in a rhythm. Change it up and alternate the distance and rest times.
Bass look for the colors they see on a regular basis. Fish coloring varies from season to season and place to place. If you can net a few big fish in the area where you are fishing you will have a good idea of what colors you should be using.
In some areas the bass feed on shiners and chad, but in other areas of the same lake they will feed off bluegill. A great part of fishing is learned by trial and error, but making intelligent choices help you determine the pattern. Once you learn where a fish in certain areas eat, you will be able to catch it with style.
